Protection of intangible assets |

One dimensions of competitive intelligence is the protection of company assets. These assets are multiple today and highly diversified, to such a degree that it is becoming very hard to ensure complete coverage. From the theft of sensitive data contained on computer supports to the depreciation of the company’s reputation or image to terrorist acts against production units, companies are increasingly exposed.

  • Data outsourcing

Companies and the State are now calling on a growing number of outside partners. This phenomenon of subcontracting or outsourcing often sensitive services raises real questions in terms of the security of information, goods and people. Companies and public administrations are increasingly dismantling sometimes vital and strategic functions, thus authorizing external entities to have access to their secrets and therefore to their “core activities” : auditing, advice, security/guards, computer maintenance, insurance, translation firms.

  • Data theft

The typical example of data theft is that of laptop computers in the industrial and scientific sectors. The use of laptops for professional purposes has become common if not banal.

  • Data recovery

A few companies or consulting firms have become specialized in data retrieval. This service can become indispensable in a world where a company’s in-house information is now almost exclusively stored on digital supports. And yet, the subject becomes sensitive when calling upon this type of services and entrusting strategic data retrieval to a subcontractor.
