Support for strategic companies |
There is much ambiguity in the term "strategic", as it depends on one’s point of view. In an open worldwide market, powerful companies and financial institutions have the means to take control, sometimes in a hostile manner, of companies that are competing with them or which have major technological and industrial advantages. One aspect of public competitive intelligence policy has consisted in encouraging the creation of venture capital investment funds, notably oriented toward SMEs developing technologies that are of interest to security and the future of the French economy.

Every entrepreneur will consider his business to be strategic, as it is the life of his company and provides jobs to his employees. And yet, in a market that is codified by very strict rules of competition, it is not for the State to provide financial or legal support to all competitive actors. Public competitive intelligence policy plays a role in this way.
